NoRigo Ducknaire is setting new records in the proud pinoy tradition of cherry picking name fighters on their way out. Seriously though, he really has had one hell of a year. I'd have no problem with him winning Fighter of the Year.

Agreed. Four fights in a is unheard of for boxers nowadays. It seems that Donaire feels a sense of urgency, as he heads to his 30's. There's no reason to fight "easy" opponents anymore--I think he should fight Mares, or move up and earn more titles for his legacy.

This kid is a fighter and he loves the sport, as well. How could you even hate a guy like this? Four fights in a year with 24/7 testing? Nonito is good for boxing.

And there's nothing wrong with being desperate for fans. He puts his life on the line more than most fighters do in a year, why shouldn't he get a little love, which hopefully, turns into a little bit of media and corporate attention and more money for him. The kid works hard, more than any other top fighters fighting today. He deserves the fans.

Sadly, Nonito will always get hate regardless of who, when or where he fights. Either they are too small, too slow, bums or hype jobs. Although I would hardly call Darchinyan, Montiel, Nishioka, Vazquez, Mathebula and Arce bums, this is what fans often think after Nonito dominates and demolishes them all.

Darchinyan was one of the best fighters in the game when Donaire Hattonized him brillantly. Montiel was the bantam king when Donaire Pacquiao'd him. Nishioka was the man everyone taught would give Nonito his 2nd loss and Vazquez wasn't a bad fighter either, but both were clearly outclassed. And now Arce, a Canastota bound fighter, dazed and confused, in two.

When you're this good, you're gonna get your fair share of critics. It's human nature. Roy Jones, Floyd Mayweather, Manny Pacquiao, and even Sugar Ray Leonard, all went through the same bull, regardless of who they fought. And if you look at the resumes of the above fighters, you couldn't ask for anything more from them. They fought each and everyone who was placed in front of them, regardless of who they were.

The only drawback I see for Nonito is his promoter. I just hate Arum's way of handling fighters. The same reason he signs them, which is because they are amazing talents, is the same reason he will be protecting them. I can see Rigo vs Donaire in the future but Mares, I doubt it. Mares is a dangerous opponent and Arum will never allow that fight to happen. That should be great fight, but Arum will make every excuse in the book not to make that happen.

I'm actually picking Mares to win that if they ever face each other. Not because, he is a better fighter than Donaire, but I think Mares's chin and Donaire's brittle hands will decide the outcome of that fight. Mares in 9.

          who didn't see this coming?
thought Arce mighta lasted a little longer, props to Nonito for the fast KO
Arce is right to retire, he's been past it for a while
Nonito is on the money, Mares must be next
Rigo works as plan B or simply being next in line
but the Mares fight has to happen before Nonito goes to 126

Nonito is not the fighter of the year. Juan Manuel Marquez is. Danny Garcia had a more exciting year as well.

Number of fights do not matter if they are against overmatched opponents. Deontay Wilder fought 6 times in 2012.
