Floyd and Toney would be my picks.

It's impossible to say what makes a guy a smart fighter, he either is, or he isn't. James Toney is a smart fighter, but why? He just is. It's the way he fights that makes him smart. He's a great counter-puncher, he conserves movement, etc, etc. Floyd is great defensively, incredibly fast, accurate, and also doesn't do things that he doesn't need to do.

Not so smart fighters would be guys like Mayorga.

don't you think who is the smartest fighter is a bit of a oxymoron just playin ...as far as boxing wow .. .. .. i would say Hopkins in the last few years he just would find a way to win even if he didnt look good .... as far as life the Klitschko's are doctors and speak a few langs ..so i guess it's them ....

As far as pure fighter smarts, Roberto Duran was a master. He is one of the few who actually made adjustments to his style as he aged. Very smart in the ring. Out slugged Davey Moore and out boxed Iran Barkley.
