According to promoter Mr. Honda of Teiken Boxing, WBC super featherweight champion Gamaliel "Platano" Diaz (37-9-2, 17KOs) will make the first defense of his title on a date in February or March in Japan, as part of a big tripleheader being planned. It was thought that Sergio "Yeyo" Thompson (25-2, 23KOs), but the WBC did not place him in line as the mandatory challenger at the recent convention in Cancun.
