lets not romanticize manny's greed and make this something it isn't.
You're letting some disdain for the business obscure the obvious. OF COURSE this is a classic rivalry. Four fights, all of them very good to great. And so on. This is one of the ones people will talk about forever.

This. It isn't just the greatest boxing rivalry. It's one of the great rivalries in all of sports. It is a noun to describe rivalry.

He didn't. Marquez walked away from the rematch in 2005 because he didn't like the split. Manny signed on. That was ALL Marquez and Manny wasn't the economic titan he is now so 'making him wait' conflates later with then. Marquez pouted, Manny fought Morales.

No need to rewrite that piece of history.

rivalries are where one guy wins,, the other wins, and then they settle it. manny was 2-0-1, and we all know if floyd had said $60 mil instead of $40 mil or cotto agreed to 150/149 this fight would not have taken place.

              this isn't ali-frazier or ward-gatti.

uhm, have you ever hear of sugar ray leonard?
he waited years between fights to give rematches.
and what does anything outside the ring have to do with how great the fights were?

cliff he lowballed him. I will not ruin this thread but lets not change the truth. point is the span of time and the BS politics take away from this being a great rivalry IMO.
