  • Comments Thread For: Alex Ariza Reacts to Pacquiao’s KO Loss to Marquez

Alex Ariza, Manny Pacquiao’s strength and conditioning coach, reacted to his fighter’s stunning sixth-round one-punch knockout at the hands of Juan Manuel Marquez Saturday night in Las Vegas.

“I don’t understand how that should be shocking,” Ariza said following the fight. “[Marquez] had a strength coach, an educated one, one with credentials, and that’s what happens when you follow your guy’s program. He didn’t do anything.”

In an interview with Marcos Villegas of the Boxing Channel last month, Ariza stated that there was less of a focus on strength and conditioning, and more on boxing for this particular camp leading up to this weekend.

“We didn’t do any of it. We quit,” Ariza said postfight, likely referring to the shift in training.

in other words he's taking a shot at pac for not following his program

and didn't JMM have Heredia for the 3rd fight where Ariza said "“Even if God Himself comes down and help Marquez, he still cannot beat Pacquiao"?

I guess he knows now that God infact can help Marquez.

If he so pleases, of course.

i have no doubt that ariza is beneficial for the right fighter in the right situation, but he's got some of the worst people skills i've ever seen from a top flight professional. calling him a professional is frankly inappropriate.
