I want to see Gamboa/Lopez, it could turn out to be a trilogy of epic proportions. A lot of entertainment value in this match-up cuz both guys are known for stopping their opposition and getting knocked down. I think they should make this fight at LW cuz it seems like both guys don't belong @130 anymore.

          I would have given Juanma a 10% chance pre-Salido.

After watching him get wrecked twice and his chin fail him terribly against an average puncher in Salido, I honestly think he would be out inside 3 against Gamboa.

Here's what I said on another thread: "I'll be frank. There were a couple of moments in that fight were, in retrospect, I had almost portentous visions. I could almost vibe what happened to Manny happening to Yuri. It wasn't a good feeling."

            So, yeah, I was concerned.

The more I think of it, the more I think Yuri was a little confused. He wasn't comfortable in the ring after fifteen months off. It's understandable. I was a little nervous for Gamboa when I saw how tense he looked upon entering the ring. I could see it in his face (or so I think). After Yuri scored the first knockdown, his reaction told me he was relieved (or trying to relieve himself). I think Gamboa lost a lot of energy with all that tension.

Let's see what happens next time. I think Yuri will be just fine.

How many rounds he won isn't the point. He's not as good as Gamboa, even a "Ciclon" who hasn't fought in fifteen months. I wouldn't care if he lost every single round. The point is that Farenas never folded, and he easily could've. He was there every step of the way. Anything can happen when someone is persistent and determined. Michael scored a knockdown and he landed some heavy shots. The fight could've ended real ugly for us Gamboa fans. Luckily, Yuri is too good and his chin is better than many give him credit for.

I don't know..I think that if he would be unconfortable he wouldn't insisted in avoid the punchlpunches like that and he would just put his hands up...but I don't really know.

He tried. Yuri turned up the heat a couple of times and almost put Farenas out. But Michael is a tough cookie with heart. He bent but didn't break.

I looked up Farenas's record on Boxrec. He had only been down once before in his career (as they mentioned during the fight). But what I found somewhat interesting is that he's had many fights where he's suffered cuts due to head-butts. No major surprise, since he's a southpaw. But it tells me Farenas is used to fighting through these challenges.

I interpreted his actions differently. I think he was doing a lot of stuff out of nervousness and confusion. Gamboa was moving around a lot to shake the tension and to put on a show. When Farenas didn't disappear, Yuri went into that mode like, "this guy doesn't belong in the same ring with me." It was all bravado.

I'm fairly certain Gamboa was negatively affected by the weight of the moment. He was returning to the ring after fifteen months. He had a new promoter with big plans. And he was the co-feature with Pacquiao and Marquez. It didn't help that he had an opponent that wasn't cooperating.
