I don't know if you are a fanboy or not. If anything, I would simply assume you are cynical about what a Pac/Floyd fight would have been BECAUSE of the fanboys, not that you are one of them.

But the fact is, JMM/Pac V is simply not on the level of what Pac/Floyd would have been if egos hadn't ruined it.

There is no way another Pac/Marquez fight gets the same hype from the rest of the sports world that Pac/Floyd would have gotten. It's not even comparable.

Yeah, I don't think so SCT.

It would be huge, and entirely unnecessary, but it will never garner the massive hype that Pac/Floyd had going for it.

With Pac coming off a huge, devastating KO loss, any interest in his next fight will be more subdued than if he was still dominating and winning big. Both of those guys looked unstoppable, hence the reason it attracted such hype. Now that Pac has finally lost (I'm not even going to count the Bradley 'loss'), and so brutally at that, even a rematch gets less.

        Now you're just dreaming.

Still, Marquez better ask for the lion's share if there is a rematch.

        I'm talking a guaranteed $30 million.

I agree, the point made in the OP was hyperbolic.

However, I do think Pac vs JMM 5 would do incredible numbers. People aren't going to forget tonight, it's already a huge news story all over. And then add to the fact that JMM has just made himself a mainstream star too.

This is why I'm certain it'll get made.

Sports fans don't care about boxing, so they don't know that Pac vs. JMM V has 'everything' they love.

Pac and Marquez is never going to get the hype of Floyd/Pac would get. Every single fight Manny or Mayweather has taken over the last however many years has been viewed in light of how it effects Floyd/Pac INCLUDING the last three Marquez/Pacquiao fights.

Every other fight in boxing was living under the shadow of a fight that nobody had even come close to signing, INCLUDING this one. Why do you think one of the very first things every sports commentator in the world was asking after this is how it effects Manny/Floyd? Because that's the fight that they knew was bigger than all the rest.

Comparing Pac/Marquez V to that is just ridiculous. No promoter in the world would have booked Pac/Marquez II, III, IV, or V if they could have booked Pac/Floyd. There is simply no comparision here.

sure, i'd watch a 5th installment of the rivalry, but not right away, i'd like both acquire a belt first to up the stakes, that way it would force a lot more people to watch it

You do realize that Floyd/Manny were estimated to make upward to 50 million dollars each for that fight and some people were estimating the fight could bring in a quarter billion dollars in total revenue... Manny/Marquez 5 will not be anywhere even near those numbers; stop overreacting

Pacquiao just got KTFO! I think the next fight should be Marquez vs Mayweather. Pacquiao was never on that level. As i said before, he was the people's champion, not the champion in the sense he was the best. Never really was the best IMO. Got KTFO by a 40 year old version of the same fighter Floyd dropped and won every round against.

So just quit man. Also, fighters who get KOed like that rarely if ever fight the same as before so if you think they will just reset you are dead wrong. Pacquiao's confidence, chin and overall durability will take an huge toll.
