Yes he was ultiately capable because he's one of the top 5 greatest in boxing............but it was history v.s. logic.

Not to sound like a genius after the fact but there were a few boxing journos who predicted Marquez would KO Pacquiao before the 8th. They made their prediction after watch Marquez ko'ing sparring partners and the fact he has this new 'special' strength and conditioning coach.

I never thought Pacquiao can get ko'd by anyone least Marquez lol. But I was not shocked like everyone else because I always had that thought in my mind going into this fight.
