Thanks for the link. Scoring seemed crazy harsh in Golovkin in that third round!

He's technically very solid though for a guy who's such a beast. I take it the Kazakhs were part of the old Soviet boxing system? They seem to have turned into a major amateur boxing power almost as soon as they got their independence.

Yes, Kazahstan when it was part of USSR had a great boxing school and they always had some places in olimpic team. When countries became independent Kasahstan retained it's boxing system and keep producing stellar results in amateurs.

When Gena had that fight Gaydarbek was already a major force in amateurs.

Very rough and ugly fight. Confirms my su****ion that you can neutralize GGG with roughouse tactics, that's why Ward would thoroughly dominate him.

            1) He didn't neutralize anything. Golovkin landed the harder shots and with pro scoring he probably would have won all 4 rounds, certainly the fight.

            2) Gaydarbekov is very good with those mauling tactics and Golovkin was probably even rougher than him.

            3) It was 9 years ago and Golovkin's inside game has improved and changed under Sanchez. You speaking as if he would become helpless like Allen Green is extremely unperceptive. Even in that amateur fight it's evident he has no problem with rough, ugly, mauling.
