Comments Thread For: Joan Guzman Seeks Rematch With Khabib Allakhverdiev

The handlers for former two-division champion Joan Guzman aren’t wasting any time in attempting to secure a rematch with newly crowned 140 lb. titlist Khabib Allakhverdiev.

Guzman’s dream of winning a major title in a third weight class ended in disappointment Friday evening at the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida. An injured knee suffered in round eight left him hobbled and unable to continue, prompting the fight to go to the scorecards.

Allakhverdiev did enough damage early – including a third round knockdown – as well as in the abridged round against a one-legged Guzman to eke out a split decision in hostile territory. [Click Here To Read More]

Guzman showed nothing Friday night to suggest he is a legitimate threat to any of the top 140 lb'ers. Father Time has caught up with him it seems.

Not happening. Khabib dominated and it is onward and upward for him. Guzman will have to earn his way back to the top a step at a time if that is possible. The fact is Khabib dominted him before Guzman's body broke into pieces in front of our eyes which clearly show he is aging. Too many broken body parts for one fight. Thats what happens to old people.

Guzman is too old to handle Khabib's speed. That is the one thing older fighters should not be matched against is busy fighters or fighters with speed and Khabib is both. There wont be a rematch and if there is, Khabin would dominate. Guzman needs a slower fighter in front of him.

I don't think Guzman deserves a rematch but I wouldn't mind seeing it. Do you guys think Guzman would give Khabib a rematch if the table were turned? I don't think he would've. I would rather see Khabib fight some top guys at 140 than a Guzman rematch because it obvious Guzman isn't a real threat at jww.

No rematch. Khabib deserves a chance to clean out the division. A rematch would be no different either way. Khabib beats him even quicker, IMO.

No point, Khabib is the superior fighter and man and will do the same thing. Guzman is finished, he was nothing but hype to begin with.
