Why is Kessler fighting Lucian Bute's leftovers?

Wouldn't it have been better to fight Bute himself when the fight was offered?

If Kessler beats Magee he becomes Ward's mandatory. Ward has to fight his mando before May 2013. It's likely the fight will go to purseoffers in which case you should look for Ward to vacate his title rather than facing the prospect of fighting Kessler in Denmark.

Magee is the interim WBA champion and this fight is for the WBA world belt that was stripped from Karoly Balzsay so blame the WBA for making Magee a champion.

Magee was allowed to pick anyone in the top 10 because Balzsay said he had a injury so the WBA stripped him.

To my understanding Kessler is getting $1.05 million dollars for this Magee fight, Bute offered something like $750,000 so you can see why he has agreed this fight so quickly.
