Comments Thread For: Chris Eubank Sr: In Five Fights, We Want James DeGale

Rising middleweight star Chris Eubank Jr performed in flashes to gain a points victory over former Commonwealth champion Bradley Pryce in Belfast a few days ago. With his father looking on from ringside, the 23-year-old was far from faultless but was awarded the referee's decision 80-73 - a margin that was harsh on 31-year-old Pryce.

At the rate Eubank Jnr fights five bouts from now will be June next year.

At the rate DeGale fights... well actually DeGale has two fights lined up over the next 8 weeks so who knows....

Jr has no pop in his punches I see this being a huge problem for him as his career moves forward, you got to have power to stop guys in their tracks at super middle and he doesnt have it

yeah I think it's already kind of a problem I agree. The thing is also that it looks like he's delivering them great, he's got nice speed he sits down on them pretty good. he has a pro style. it kind of reminds me how I felt about the Peterson brothers when they were coming up. I'm sure there will be improvement. I still like what ive seen from him overall, I was surprised at his level of schooling in his first fight so maybe he's hit a bit of a wall early on. cuz yeah at 168 most of the top guys have good power relative to each other.

I like the way Eubank Jr fights so frequently, but would like to see him take a fight or 2 in the USA before going for Southern Area & English titles. DeGale could well be up for a chance to take on Andre Ward if he wins this WBC silver bauble, so C.E.Jr may have to think again.

Agree with the concerns about his power. At some point soon he's going to run into someone he can't keep off.

It's already been pointed out that he has no real power but just as big a concern is that despite his speed, his arrogance gets him hit A LOT. He needs to forget the showing off and trying to look flash and protect himself.
He needs to forget about Degale cos he is also quick, hits harder and is more accurate.
The top middleweights would take him out early.

I'm not really too concerned about his power. Hasn't produced any stunning knockouts but he certainly hits hard enough to command his opponent's respect. A lot of the time he's performing some quirky movement or trying to throw unpredictably so this takes a lot of steam out of his punches.

I'd say he definitely hits twice as hard as DeGale.

It always makes me chuckle when relatively new fighters are name dropping opponents they want 5 fights down the line.
