Russia's Denis Shafikov dropped Ghanaian Albert Mensah twice to become the new WBC Mediterranean welterweight champion on this Saturday night in Cozumel, Quintana Roo. The relentless pace that was started by Shafikov, who was throwing punches in all directions from his left guard, left Mensah severely swollen and generated a cut on his left eyebrow. Shafikov was cut above his right eyebrow in the seventh. The scores were 119-107, 118-108 and 118-108. Shafikov raised his record to 31-0-1, 17 KO's, while Albert Mensah dropped to 25-4-1, 10 KO's.
