    Question about the Chavez/Taylor fights...

Was Taylor a fighter for whatever network broadcasted the fight? In both fights the announcers were practically sucking off Taylor even if he wasnt doing much special, and when Chavez would land a combination or rock Taylor, they didnt say **** until Taylor responded and continued to suck him off. Why was this?

Chavez vs. Taylor I , was a HBO broadcast. Taylor was a Gold Medalist. It is expected for a certain amount of nut-licking. It happened with De La Hoya fights as well.

HBO was hoping that Taylor would end up being a cash-cow like Sugar Ray Leonard was.

In the Legendary Nights episode, Jim Lampley looks back at that fight, and says he regrets not giving Chavez the credit for the punches that really rocked Taylor, and ended up softening up Taylor for a great Knockout win.

Thank you for clearing that up for me. I still believe the referee was correct for stopping the first fight. It's Lou Duva's fault for distracting Taylor, You GOTTA answer the REF!

Duva REALLY screwed up that fight....one of the worst jobs of "helping'" a fighter EVER by a corner. Taylor would still have been badly messed up by the punishment he took but he likely would have won the fight *IMO, had he not been told that it was in the bag. Shameful work by his seconds!
