Berto is the most stationary fighter I've ever seen.
It MAY be that in both the Guerrero and Ortiz fight that his legs were just gone early after knockdowns. But he seriously can't even step around anymore, it's mind boggling.
Yep 100%, I remember a few years ago when his stock was a bit more higher than now he was called every single name etc slicky or another Mosley, am like nope this guy is a KO waiting to happen, he is like a big mountain rooted in one place, He can box and look good but I never rated him.
Well in this fight, his one eye was gone from the middle of second round on. It is hard to move quickly and land good shots with that sort off depth perception issue. It was best for him in this situation to let Guerrero come to him and his plan worked because he nailed Guerrero with his best punch many times.
The problem was he couldn't hurt Guerrero, Berto needs to be able to hurt people to win sure giving an angle might have helped land a punch Guerrero didn't see coming but he would have to be able to land.
Power punchers tend to be rooted though and Berto certainly falls into that category.

Understand what you're saying and I agree to an extent. I thought Berto would be able to hurt Guerrero and I was dead wrong.
But still...he should be moving more than he did. I understand his peripheral was a bit messed up but he had no intention of slipping or sliding.
Like I said, it could be that his legs were gone early from getting hurt just like the Ortiz fight...but it's becoming a trend.
Just move forward against this guy and you'll wear him out. I swear, Margarito had more lateral movement.

I would say he seemed to have that plan to make Guerrero miss at the beginning with his shoulder roll thing but that went out the window with the knockdowns and his eye problem. I don't think his legs were gone that early I just think the way the fight went totally threw his plan out the window and he knew he had to take the Ghost out to win, but the Ghost did work his body good so he probably did lose them as the fight wore on.
He certainly is not a mover, or a guy that makes someone miss~ he can block a bit and hold but those are his two ways of limiting what a guy can do to him. Plus his holding was ineffective at times as Guerrero always seemed to have a free arm and he always put that free arm to work.
