China's first boxing champion is being well recieved

Xiong Zhao Zhong became China's first boxing champ today if anyone outside China noticed. And plenty of them seem to have noticed since right now it's the top sport story on Yahoo China. The UFC's China event was for the most part ignored by Chinese media.

That is a giant market. China have the world's 2nd largest economy and is estimated to be #1 soon. I respect Pacquaio, but let's be honest here. If he was Chinese, he won't even have to fight in the States for big money.
That giant B BALL player Yao Meng or something ended up making hundreds of millions averaging 19 points a game lol.

I don't most boxing fans realise this. A level boxing match in 2010 did 60 million viewers on a SMALL network in China. If this got even half decent attention you could be talking a bottom of 200 million viewers. Off the top of my head I think the state news averages 500 million and that's considered slightly low for the time slot.

yup, Jeremy Lin got like 100 million hits anytime he had a game on during his Knicks run.

Also if Pacquiao were a chinese boxer like you said he wouldn't have to leave china but it would be difficult for the challenger to fight him because he would be scared of getting robbed in china.

I think this is bad for boxing, because China will be corrupt and probably when they get all the lighter weight belts they won't travel to USA to put on a show, they will make all defenses in China and probably rob the challenger on the cards like they do in Germany.

The Chinese are fast, they have a lot of lighter weight talent, I think they will probably dominate all the low tiny weight division from 118 and below.

They have a big GDP but the majority of chinese are still poor. When their GDP per capita rises to first world level then you will see boxers making top money over there. Once they start introducing ppvs in China, fughetaboutit!

                    Goddamn!

Why do chinese and japanese boxers square up so much???

Koreans are little bit better at maintaining a proper boxing stance!
