  • Tszyu inks Hatton deal!

By Ray Wheatley -- World of Boxing
IBF 140 pound champion Kostya Tszyu has reportedly signed a contract to defend his title against Ricky Hatton at Manchester, England's MEN Stadium on June 4. Tszyu's purse is said to be US$4.2 million. Tszyu's promoter Vlad Warton will meet with Hatton's promoter Frank Warren this week to finalize the the fight. Tszyu had been considering an offer from American promoter Murad Muhammad which was a four fight deal for a purse of US$14 million. Oscar De La Hoya has stated he is interested in a Kostya Tszyu bout at 147 pounds. After a long layoff, Tszyu looked sensational in scoring a third round knockout over Sharmba Mithchell in Phoenix, Arizona on November 6 last year.

I am getting closer to believing that this fight will be a reality.

Now for the real question. Who is going to have to pay for this and who is going to get it for free?

I don't think this can be a PPV alone in the USA.

Wow June 4. That's a long wait. Though I'm actually happy about the date for some reason.

Yeah there is something about the June 4th date that put doubts in my mind. The fight is signed but whether it comes off or not. I commend Tsyzu for taking this fight. There are easier ones out there for him but Hatton is a dangerous opponent and i think it has the mix to be a great fight.
            I hope it happens!

hatton aint been in a ring with someone as good as tszyu, thats the only reason people think he's so dangerous. IMO this isnt something to commend tszyu about, i'd be happier if he took a fight with mayweather who's a real challenge

...The BBC is a crock of ******* **** nowadays. BTW, Hatton is gonna get knocked into next week. Just the fact that Zoo is gonna do it at MEN is gonna make it that much sweeter. Hatton will see all of his marbles spilled onto the canvas. No way he takes Zoo's punches. It will be similar to the Judah fight in that Hatton may look good very early and then Bam and he will be right in the middle of ***** street.
