Comments Thread For: Maidana Will Wait For Outcome of Berto vs. Guerrero

Former champion Marcos "El Chino" Maidana ( 32-3, 29 KOs) will take a stay busy fight on December 12th at Luna Park in Argentina, but then he wants secure a big opportunity in early 2013. Ranked at number two under the WBA at 147-pounds, Maidana would like to get a shot at the champion, Paulie Malignaggi (32-4, 7 KOs). Another option is the winner of Saturday's fight between Robert Guerrero (30-1-1-2, 18 KOs) and Andre Berto (28-1, 22 KOs).

Good choice tbh. Maidana beats both fairly easily.

All great fights for Maidana. . .

Would love any of them for a main event on HBO, or Showtime.

Its going to be funny when Maidana, Matthysse, and Martinez are champs

I really wouldn't call it a duck. Golden Boy needed to fill out the Alvarez vs Lopez card and wanted to put an Argentine on the card. Maidana just did what he was told.

come on it's not like Thurman's a beast. he didn't look that great against the tomato can he fought against. Thurman's got talent but not fighting Maidana at this point might have been the best thing for him.

Malignaggi got Hatton next - unless Hatton loses v Senchenko which is a real possibility. Berto v Guererro winner got Mayweather next bc we know thats the easiest fight Mayweather could take over Pac, Bradley, Martinez or Canelo. Unless Mayweather fights Cotto a 2nd time - since Mayweather already won that, he knows he can do it again, so thats obviously a possibility too. Maidana v Alvarado would be great - but too bad TR and GBP are infants and cant work together

Plus, even if Maidana didnt want the fight, Maidana just moved up from 140-147, why should he fight a 154 lber unless it's a huge opportunity - like Joseito Lopez got
