The difference between Floyd fighting at 'home' and Andre Ward fighting at 'home'

I read a lot of posts defending Ward by citing Floyd and how Floyd never had to leave the States.

This might be common sense for a lot of you, but for the few of you who still don't get it :

Floyd never had to leave the States and nobody will complain because outside of Hatton every single one of his elite opponents have their bases in the United States and fight in the US for their big fights.

Now if Miguel Cotto was some Chinese fighter who fought out of Shang Hai
If Manny Pacquaio was some German fighter who fought out of Berlin
If Victor Ortiz was a French fighter who fought out of Paris and they all make more money, attract more crowds, and have higher revenue OUTSIDE of the United States. We have a problem.

Floyd would have beaten Ortiz in Paris or in Vegas. The fact remain, if all of the top stars in Floyd's weight classes generate MORE revenue and fight OUTSIDE of the States, Floyd should fight outside every once in a while too.

It makes economical sense as well as even the playing field a bit.

This isnt college football. There is no home court advantage in boxing. The crowd cant block punches for you.

Money is in the US. Most big title fights, except for Klit brothers, take place here. Its really that simple.

they can help sway judges, though. But I agree for the most part.

I hate when people say Ward beat Kessler/Froch because it was at home. Dominating performances should be excluded. Only close decisions does that come into play (i.e Sturms career).

You still don't get it. Revenue clearly show that Ward vs Froch in Nottingham will generate more money than Ward vs anybody in Oakland.

Ward vs Bute in Canada= bigger crowd/revenue than Oakland. If it makes dollars, it makes sense.

How does fighting in a town where your opponent happens to own some property and sleeps in at night even the playing field?

              Not for Ward it isn't.
I can link later on in this thread, but it clearly shows Mikkell generate 3x as much money in big fights fighting in Denmark as compare to Oakland.

BIG MONEY FIGHTS from 168+ just does not exist in the US.

It gives ignorant fans the 'perception' that it evens the playing field. Scene makes up 1% of the 'boxing fans' 99% are casuals.

I do agree that Andre Ward, hell, every fighter should travel to take on fights. But not for the reasons that most people would want them to.

I think it should almost be done out of respect for lack of a better term. If you're THAT great, I think there would be nothing more satisfying than to go in front of 20,000 of your opponents fans and whoop his ass and silence the building.

thats denmark money, not US dollars. I agree that Froch and Kessler and Bute are big home draws, but you have to also consider the exspense for HBO produce there. That cuts into profit so the end figure is much smaller.
