i could see burns going to vegas. but one thing is for sure, he doesnt have to. if the fight makes more money in scotland then why would he go to america? id imagine ricky burns is the bigger draw between the two of them aswell. if broner isnt prepared to travel, then why should burns?

        I wouldn't tbh.

Broner is the one with the huge expectations, he is expected to do huge things in the coming years. Ricky will never get the same level of praise or attention outside of the UK (even if he were to beat Broner) because he isn't someone who talks...so it's a no lose situation for him.

He can fight Broner if he comes over, but if not then Burns could easily stay in the UK and rack up title defenses and big money and get the same level of attention.

Broner can't draw flies in the USA. There were only about 2000 in attendance tonight.

Burns would get robbed in the USA, but Ricky would definitely win in Scotland with fair officiating.
So Burns would get robbed here but Broner would get a fair shake in Scotland?

Both are title holders. What is more neutral, Scotland or Vegas/Jersey??? That's a fairly easy question.

Broner just beat the #1 ranked LW, so he will without a doubt be the #1 guy now. Broner is the guy bringing in money from HBO, yes Burns is a huge draw in Scotland though, obviously.

But if Burns doesn't fight Broner, it will look like he's ducking to be honest. He already pulled out of the fight last year, and it seems many blame Warren. Well Warren has seemed more than willing to make the fight in early 2013, and Golden Boy seems on board. Also, if Broner didn't fight Burns, oh well. He can move on to Gamboa at 135 probably, and others at 140 like Garcia, Matthysse, Rios, Marquez, etc.

If Burns doesn't take the chance to fight Broner, where's he going??? Nowhere fast. He can stay in Scotland and make big bucks fighting guys like Rees, Murray, etc. Most of the time, not always of course, fighters come to the states to get the big recognition and the big fights. It's just the way it is. Hatton and Froch had recognition before they came here, sure. But Hatton had his big fights over here, with the exception of Tszyu because Hatton wasn't that well known anywhere else then. Froch came here to fight his biggest fight of his career against Andre Ward. Khan came here and fought Malignaggi, Maidana, Judah, Peterson, etc. Even Hamed came here and fought Barrera, though he lost, it was by far the biggest fight of his career.

If Burns wants to be recognized as a world stage fighter, he should meet somewhere neutral like Vegas or Jersey and fight Broner in what would be both guys biggest fight, and would also be for the vacant RING title probably too.

I would favor Broner but that's not an excuse of why this fight shouldn't happen. It's the best fight at 135 right now.

As already mentioned, HBO brings a lot of money to the table. Burns would get a good payday to come over here.

But if he is content with just getting paid for making easy defenses at home he can become another Felix Sturm.

                    My worry is Frank Warren.
                    Exactly that.
I dont hold out much hope for Ricky if he does fight Broner but he'll give a great account of himself and make Broner earn the win

Either country would be equally neutral IMO.

This is one of those rare unification bouts that I actually don't think either guy 'needs'. Broner can go in other directions if he doesn't get it in the US and Burns can go in other directions if he doesn't get it over here - I believe that is what will happen as I don't think either will back down to being the one having to travel. I don't think either will be seen as ducking as both are unwilling to travel, not just one.

It would indeed be the biggest fight for both, that's another reason I don't think one will go on the road. Vegas and Atlantic City are neutral in the US, but Warren will see London or Manchester as every bit as neutral so....
