Clean out 160 really. Pirog, Golovkin, maybe Geale if he takes the fight. Would love to see him get the big fights at 154 but they don't want it.

He's been the longest reigning champ since Hopkins, a couple more solid defenses against top guys and he'll be in on merit alone. He's already done more than what's been asked of him.

dominate the super middleweight division...or continue to clean out his own division.

He's not even close to the hall of fame let alone being an ATG. And at his age he won't reach either.

What he has done out of the ordinary? We cant throw him in just because he won the MW belt.

He's really late in his career at this point and not in a good position to face the opposition he needs, so there's little chance. Not entirely his fault though.

Unify 160, step up to 168 amd beat ward anx he will be hof.

Atg? Sh it. Do the above add spanking floyd at 154, beat froch and unify 168.

In other words he cant be an atg, realistically.

                Good post.

A lot of watering down going on in this thread.

How so? He's already the Lineal, the RING, and he won his god damned title back already, pretty much as an UNDERDOG being lead to slaughter on short notice.

                  That means a ****ton.

The greatest always did it over the odds. ALWAYS. Monzon is a top 4 middleweight reigning a division beating the same guys over and over again. Martinez can't do it beating the guys he should over a division? Really? He's already beat guys he SHOULDN'T have (Pavs, Williams, Bunema)

But now he is just too good to make the HOF fighting in his own division?

Fellow Argentine Victor Galindez became a HOF, I think Martinez's achievements are just as good; certainly no less. To everyone saying he never cleaned out his division, these are the RING rankings at the time Martinez fought Pavlik:

                    1. Kelly Pavlik (Champion) RING/WBC/WBO
                    2. Felix Sturm WBA
                    3. Paul Williams
                    4. Sebastien Sylvester IBF
                    5. Khoren Gevor
                    6. Mathew Macklin
                    7. David Lopez
                    8. Anthony Mundine
                    9. Daniel Geale
                    10. Sebastien Zbik
                    11. Winky Wright

He fought the lineal champion (Pavlik) and arguably the top contender in P. Will (Sturm always refused to fight Martinez). Macklin was ranked the #3 contender at the time Martinez fought him in 2011 and most boxing fans rated Chavez as the #1/2 contender at the time he fought Martinez. Note that Golovkin, Pirog, Quillin were not even ranked in 2010 when Martinez became the lineal champion. By the way what have the three of them done to deserve a shot at the lineal champ? Golovkin's last two opponents were Makoto Fuchigami and Proksa, Pirog fought JMW's Ishida and Maciel, Quillin fought the mighty Jesse Brinkley, shot to **** Wright, and N'dam.
