Promoters have hi-jacked this sport

After Abner Mares defeated Anselmo Moreno he made it clear that the next fight he wanted was against Nonito Donaire in a showdown of the two best Super Bantamweights in the world. A fight between them would be tough to make however due to the fact that both fighter’s promoters, Top Rank and Golden Boy, have had a long standing feud and have refused to work with each other.

This is the unfortunate state of boxing today. The differences between Top Rank and Golden Boy should be irrelevant. If the fans want it, and the contestants are willing, then it should be a simple matter of organizing the event.

There is something wrong when a whole industry is hi-jacked by the personal whims of a few people. It's understandable when the issue is with the actual contestants - like Mayweather or Pac, but if the promoters are the bottleneck, then the alphabet organizations like WB -A,C,O, etc.., have to re-group, re-organize, and perhaps form a unified governing body to take control and manage this industry better.

Bob Arum is killing the sport. GBP has stepped a side for Mosley to get his shot at Pacman then they let Marquez go so he can fight Pacman. Enough is enough. Bob Arum is running out of opponents for Nonito in 2013. He's going to have to make Rigondeaux vs Donaire something Nonito doesn't want high risk low reward. Mares contract is up in 2014 by then Nonito will be fighting at 126.

Granted Donaire is the bigger name, Mares is still a big name too. Arum is being completely unreasonable.

Mares has way more fans than Donaire. Meaning Mares is an attraction and he draws more money.

People here seem to have a very short term memory..Schaeffer spent literally months throwing dirt on Arum but ya'll expect him to now do business with Schaeffer..really? He's willing to make the fight happen..I don't see what the issue is, considering Donaire is the bigger star he has all the leverage in this...they want donaire then take what's there. If Mares has anything to complain about he should go look at his managers. Stop giving GBP a pass because with one hand they sling dirt and with the other hand they try to act like both hands are clean.

Because it's not about the promoters it's supposed to be about the fighters. When you're chosin as the promoter you are supposed to do what's best for the fighters not what's best for Top Rank!!! Arum talked just as much smack but out of the 2 of them Arum deserves the smack talk because he is holding up the whole sport!!

Arum secretly doesn't want the sport to grow after him. He's provin this time and time again. Everytime there is a possibility the sport might get a media boost with a big fight Arum comes in and ****'s on it!!! Everytime! Arum wants boxing to be Top Rank and Top Rank only. He knows that the sport still has potential with all these up and coming fighters and the recent increase in viewers. He wants his so called legacy to stay in tact. If we don't do something fast than he will single handidly ruin the sport to the point of no return. This is like watching America sink and nobody seems to realise!!

Bruh I could give a damn about the promoters! But if one promoter is stopping something the fans wanna see than right is right and wrong is wrong. If GBP was saying they wouldn't make this fight unless Donaire signed with them I would say they was on B.S. as well! Don't get me confused chump!
