HEY! You leave Rocky out of this! LOL I love walking by and seeing the steps and statue though. It's definitely iconic.

On topic I think Willie Pep is the greatest white boxer.

I must confirm this, Rocky Balboa IS indeed in the hall of fame, and the statue has been back for quite some time now...

I see you're serious, but this thread would be much better in the history section.

              greb is the top dog

pep and leonard are nice nods for his runners up. i'd put pep above leonard, though it's close. fitzsimmons had an odd career, but managed to win titles from MW to HW. fought a very long time ago.

gene tunney was a beast. highly skilled light heavy who later became the best HW in the world. greb beat him two close fights and two lopsided ones in either direction, according to the cards / newsies. fights are not filmed. greb is not filmed.

dempsey's wins are a bit overrated, but he was an iconic figure and a hell of a fighter. marciano is another fan favorite and usually comes up in people's top 10 [white fighters] / is a sentamental favorite.

              barney ross
              jimmy mclarin
              micky walker (another beast.)
              jimmy wilde
              tony canzoneri

i'm probably leaving some deserving guys out. these are all top 50 atg's, though, for sure.

pep is in my top 10.

The only gripe I have with Tunney and Dempsey is that Dempsey didn't fight all of his contenders and Tunney drew the colour line. Greb fought EVERYONE. Dempsey even ducked him.

Fitz is a good shout though. I'd put him in over both guys to be honest.

i think alot of the old time fighters (of any skin color) were more iconic than actual "the greatest fighters of all time"

most fighters of the old days are always looked at as better in every way than the current fighters. this is full bs, because thanks to technology, sports science, knowledge, and experimentation, athletes today are far more conditioned and trained than of the old days. there is exceptions for every rule, but generally, fighters of old are made out to be legends, when in reality todays fighters are much better overall. this is just simple evolution. no one believes this, and i understand that, cause then the "golden era of boxing" myth dies down, but its simple to see how it works. in sports, each generation is stronger, smarter, faster, better...
