I would be confident as hell if I was Lara too. He couldn't miss with the left in those final rounds. He figured Vanes out, he would just start off where he left off.

Lara figured Vanes out alright. Timed that balls buster real good so Vanes' legs wouldn't be the same for the rest of the fight. Timed that fight-ending headbutt very well. That's all Lara figured out before scavenging what was left.

Here's the point. With these two drawing and possiblygoing to rematch....ginger boy has no clear mandatory and can fight who he likes for a while longer. Unless the wbc installs a new mandatory and stands by their commitment to make canelo defend against him then dude has clear track. Convenient huh?

That was a straight up terrible fight... I was a Lara fan till last night. He talked **** and fought dirty and moved backward all night ...

I don't think one fight can or should change your opinion of a fighter. Lara has never been a busy, offensive fighter. The only thing about him Saturday that I didn't like was that he was way too tentative compared to his past fights. I've never seen him fight that way before, where the only shots he even tried to land were counter punches. The best counter punchers of all time knew that you have to open up and force your opponent to exchange and that's when you catch them with counters. Moving backwards all night trying to counter every shot is actually more difficult and something I'd never seen Lara do before until Saturday

Lara was way too passive. The guy was clearly winning the fight, I had it 6-2 for Lara so far, but I understand why people dislike him. Boxing is a sport but as a boxer they also have a certain obligation to entertain people or otherwise they are left out without a fan base (see Alexander, Ward, Bradley, etc...) I was also expecting more from Lara, but that doesn't changes the fact that he's still a pretty good boxer, he was just dominating Vanes, making him miss almost every shot and taking advantage of his counter punching skills.

Lara could've fought a better fight but even then, I had him winning the fight. Martirosyan got too much credit for ineffective aggression.
