First off I will say, I am one of those that believes he's being moved a bit too carefully and would have liked to see him step it up quite a few fights ago. With that said and as far as excitement goes, IMO I think he's partly just bored. I think Mikey is the type of fighter that will step his game up according to the opposition, and when better opp comes along we'll see him bring it up. He reminds me a bit of how I think of Gamboa (not physically but rather mentally). I remember watching the last few fights of his (Gamboa) and thinking "He looks bored as ****, like he'd rather be anywhere else but in the ring". This to me is a sign of these type of talented fighters being more then ready to take on better challenges.

The one thing I don't care for with Mikey is that he isn't particularly concerned whether or not the fans like his style or are entertained, and he's flatly stated that several times including last night. It irks me when fighters talk/act like that... they seem to forget who (in the grand scheme of things) is REALLY paying their bills.

In some ways though I do agree with your assessment, however - the talent is clearly there. He shows at times that he can really floor it and dazzle the crowd when HE wants to. So I think it may be more of an attitude, or oddly a lack of interest in some aspects (such as pleasing the fans) that makes him come of as less than appealing to some. It slays me when such obviously talented athletes act as if they're bored to tears when they're executing their crafts.

Was it me or did you notice Garcia getting wobbled and backed up last night? Last night raised an eyebrow. I was never convinced by Garcia and had a feeling that if he fought anyone like Salido who pushed him he would get beat. While Barros is not Salido, when he took the initiative and engaged first he was able to back Garcia up (where he looked uncomfortable) and hurt about two times.

i only saw the first few rounds in their entirety, then i switched to showtime and only watched when there was a break in their boxing. i caught the stoppage, though, luckily enough.

i didn't see garcia stunned when i was watching, but that's probably because i missed big portions of the middle rounds

i'm going to watch the fight in it's entirety and get a better gauge before i comment further on last night's performance .

yes he does, it's just easy to hit.

he's got a rep for taking massive punishment. i've seen every fight he's had on american TV.

After the Marquez, I knew JuanMa's chin was weak, I made a thread about Him getting retired because of it, this was before the Salido fight and people thought I was crazy.

You can try to convince me, but i'm not falling for it.

I agree, he has no defense but a good chin. I still don't know how he survived the Mtagwa fight.

There's no convincing...you are just simply wrong if you think Lopez has a bad chin.

Guy gets lit up with bomb after bomb and it takes a while before he starts getting shook up. Very few fighters in the sport can stand up to the amount of punishment that Lopez takes for as long as he takes it.

It's like saying Margarito doesn't have a great chin cause Mosley took him out...Marg ate BOMBS for 8 rounds, that fight was yet another testament to his chin.
