Question. How do the two of you feel about the traps that Lara was setting but didnt pull the trigger on. He kept setting a trap for the looping left after Vanes adjusted to the straight left(somewhat). And he went away from the best set up of that straight left by abondoning the jab to the body. Vanes did nothing to take that jab to the body away, other than applying pressure with NO jab, and trying to loop the right.

For some reason Lara was trying to set up lead lefts off of traps rather than varying between a soft ouch, and stiff jab. This confused me as Lara showed the ability to turn Vanes for most of the fight, not to mention he was inconsistant at dictating range. Thoughts??????

Im not sure what was going thru Lara's head last night but I think the main problem for him hesitating was cause he was showing too much respect. He got away from the jab and straight left to the body for whatever reason. Maybe it was cause of Shields instructions? He was just telling him to throw the straight left (assuming to the head). Kiaba last night also pointed out how Lara did not throw the lead right hook or the right hook at all. This was one punch I was excepting him to throw as well coming into the fight.

I was watchin the fight with Vers, and noticed the same thing about the right hook. It looked to me that he was setting a trap for it, but just didnt pull the trigger on it. Vanes played right into his hands for it by trying to trap him and and get off the overhand right, but he might not have thrown it because Vanes would square up once he got Lara "trapped". Harder to throw that punch and pivot out the way when trapped and your opponent squares up.

Who or what is Vers? O.o

I don't think a rematch will go any different. I think Lara will try to drag it out till the late rounds till Vanes loses some gas in his power. If he throws that jab or right hook he could hit that eye more which is obviously vulnerable to swelling/cuts.

Do you think if a rematch went down they would come in with a different gameplan?

Vers is my homeboy, who posts on this site, he just dont post as much as he used to thats probably why you dont know him.

I think that Lara would start faster in a rematch, but Im still puzzled as to why he didnt pull the trigger on certain shots, and why he didnt set up certain shots. I dont recall seeing him hook off the jab. That would've been an excellent way to work that right hook in there.

I gave it to Lara, but the rounds were really hard to score... Thank God for the TV setting with all the different angles, cause a lot of Lara's work could easily go unnoticed, which is the only reason why Lederman gave the first couple rounds to Vanes... It looked like nothing was happening, so Lederman just gave the rounds to the aggressor... Even though Lara was clearly landing and countering...

Honestly, unless he's fighting a straight up brawler, I can't see myself watching another Lara fight... That was boring as hell

                Oh lol.

Like I said last night, defensively Lara is not perfect but I think he's good in that department. I think him and Shields need to start working more on combination punching and add more punches to his arsenal. Pure 1-2's is not gonna work every fight unless your name is Wladimir Klitschko and fighting little guys .

I agree that Lara won easily and the scorecards were way off. I don't think Haye is bigger than the Klitschko brothers worldwide. I don't see what harm it did for him to be on a tv show. Mayweather has been on a fake wrestling show and got 20 million for it and he has been on dancing with the stars as has Holyfield. What harm did it do?
