after almost two weeks strutting his stuff in the wild card gym, pacquiao has convinced roach that he is indeed looking forward to scoring an emphatic win over marquez. roach said pacquiao is already “70 percent” in shape and that pacquiao has regained his form after initial reports of being sluggish caused by jetlag from his long 18 hour flight from manila to los angeles.
with four weeks to go before crunch time, pacquiao and roach would be working to improve on speed ,distance and throwing punches in bunches. roach said scoring a knockout win over somebody like marquez, the only fighter who has made Pacquiao shed off his Superman qualities, will be very difficult but is definitely doable.
through the years, pacquiao has morphed into a more predictable fighter, something that has worked wonders for marquez and his trainer, nacho beristain. beristain used to say that pacquiao “jumps in and out like a wild cat” but now that he has mellowed down, relying mainly on skills learned through the years, his makeover, has actually favored them.
but roach and pacquiao are currently working on bringing back the vintage style to mess up marquez’s classic counter-punching ways.
