Speak for yourself cause Im buying Pacquiao-JMM 4 solely cause of the undercard. Only reason I bought Martinez-Chavez was cause of Rigo. Only reason I was gonna show up at Barclays was cause of Quillin-Njikam but couldn't cause of work. So yea, people do buy cards for certain fights.Comment

This entire fake drama/twitter fued is making both of them look like ******s. More likely Floyd though, since he's begging for attention which is extremely pathetic on all cards.
You can call it publicity all you want but Floyd doesn't have a fight, so the only publicity you're giving him is a few more twitter followers at least? GJ!Comment

50 Cent is going to be an awful promoter. The man is an idiot, and clearly knows very little about the sport. Gamboa is a FEATHERWEIGHT, Mayweather is a champion at LIGHT MIDDLEWEIGHT. 50's fighter is supposed to come off the layoff he just had and challenge the #1 P4P fighter in the sport by jumping 3 or 4 weight divisions? This entire fake drama/twitter fued is making both of them look like ******s. And is 50 even remotely close to lining up any fights? He just screwed over Billy Dib. I don't hear about Andre Dirrell opponents being looked at. Just give it up man and go back to selling Street King Energy drinks.Comment

From a publicity situation, Gamboa is winning BIG TIME from these twitter comments.
Just as you played it out TS:
- The Casuals hear his name get tossed out.
- They hear that Mayweather is ducking him (ludicrous notion but still out there in the public now).
- He gets looked up on Youtube and his highlights would make people believe that he's a credible opponent. Those Yuri Gamboa highlight vids make him look like the next coming of Roy Jones taught by Tyson.
- If he has a good showing in his next fight coming up, then he either gets the Mayweather fight (unlikely, but still a win situation), or he doesn't get Floyd but still has a "Floyd is ducking this guy" mystique.
All the casuals I've ever spoken to, know nothing, nor care about weight classes.Comment

of course the publicity is good for gamboa
that said, he's not fighting. his career has stagnated, and he's not getting any younger. he's a tiny guy. he's certainly hit his physical peak. not far down the line he'll begin to slow down.Comment

Your whole post is how I see it and especially the bold. People might not buy the PPV card just for Gamboa but now that his name is more relevant they will keep a closer eye on him. But at the same time 50 is getting into a promotional feud with GBP and Haymon (even tho he's not a promoter) and having Gamboa miss out on some fights like the Broner fight. And that's not a good thing. From a publicity situation, Gamboa is winning BIG TIME from these twitter comments.
