I thought interim titles were just for guys who were waiting for a title shot? He got his title shot and lost. Now he's defending the "interim" title - WTF? Pointless championship.

Ok...so, I'm a little confused here. I thought Joan Guzman was fighting for the interim WBA title at 140lbs? I really thought this was the title so what's going on? Can someone please enlighten me please.According to Pablo Cano, the father and trainer of Pablo Cesar Cano (25-2-1, 19KOs), his son will return to the junior welterweight division and defend his WBA interim title. Last month Cano moved up to the welterweight division and lost a very close split decision to WBA champion Paulie Malignaggi.

Dude moves up to WW and misses weight. How does that work? If anything he should've been underweight.
His Jorge Linares face won't hold up, vs a hardpuncher or not.Comment

Guzman/Allakhverdiev are fighting for the WBA "World" title, which I believe is a more important title.
The interim title gives Cano the right to challenge the winner of Guzman/Allakhervdiev.Last edited by kiaba360; 11-05-2012, 03:35 PM.Comment
