All of you ignorant little girls on both side of this argument can't stop talking about this can you?
The truth is this...
Margarito was a warrior, a guy who left his heart in the ring time and time again. The reality about whether he used wraps in his fight vs Cotto will never be known, but when you are found with illegal wraps in one fight, you are guilty forever.
If he used them in the Mosley fight, then he could have used them in other fights. Did he? We will never know but the fact is when you cheat the way he did, his legacy is forever tainted and it's a shame because he was such an exciting fighter who left it all in the ring.
I loved Margarito before the wrap scandal, now I have lost respect for him for even being involved with something like that. He took the hard way up, he wasn't given anything and showed what a true warrior is about but his legacy is forever tainted.

I think it's something (unless Margarito or Capetillo come clean) we may never know the real answer for. It was said Margarito prior to the Mosley fight was struggling to make weight and the hand wraps were an "insurance policy" if you will. My argument to that though is, if Capetillo out of no where thought "Hmmm let me use THESE pads just in case", why not do that against a younger, fresher Cotto in a higher profile fight? You wouldnt risk getting caught in the Cotto fight, but went along with it against an older Shane Mosley?
As a Cotto fan I still till this day accept the loss, there's nothing you can do about it. But I still believe Margarito's wraps were loaded.
But in the end, look where Cotto is today and where Margarito is.

i dont think he did, maybe if the fight was held in California where carelessness in checking handwraps is notorious I would suspect he would have gotten away with it. The NSAC was not lax for a big fight like that.
Furthurmore, Cotto's own people were there checking the wraps, as was the referee.
Margarito was not cheating that night and beat Cotto to a pulp because he was one heavy handed badass in his prime.
He then proceeded to get beat up himself by a HOF caliber fighter - Shane Mosley. Margarito knew he needed to cheat to beat someone better than Cotto.
