Antonio Margarito illegal hand wraps

No. There was greater scrutiny in Las Vegas and Margarito was facing an opponent who was notorious for getting hurt relatively easily. Against Mosley the conditions were exactly the opposite. Logically I can see why they would have done it in one situation and not another. Logic is always something I've preferred over speculation.Comment

Why people still stand up for/support this guy is beyond me.
And lol @ all the margo **** riders in this thread making excuses/trying to say Cotto didnt beat his ass in the second fight. And this dr stoppage excuse, lmao, dude was getting hit flush with punches because he couldnt see them. How was that stoppage a bad thing?

I'm not saying he did or didn't but anyone comparing the first and second Cotto fights as evidence is a ****ing idiot. You only need to watch the first three rounds to see the difference in the fighters and the difference in the fights. They don't go the same way at all, at any point whatsoever.
Cotto gets hit and caught on the ropes a lot in the first fight and gets hurt by hard, flush punches within the fist two rounds of the first fight. Second fight, he hardly got hit cleanly once within the first five or six rounds and fought a much smarter, more disciplined fight. The first fight is very different than people remember. Cotto gets caught quite a lot early on, much more than people say, and has no defense for the uppercuts that Margarito throws. Second fight, he doesn't give Margarito as much room, uses side movement much better, gets off first much more, and his defense is better overall, plus he actually clinches Margaito when they get in close which he didn't do once in the first fight.
It's not the strength of the punches that changed that did the damage. Cotto was just getting caught easier, with much cleaner, flush shots with poorer defense by Cotto. Cotto didn't get caught once in the entire second fight as badly as he did in just the second round of the first fight. Totally different fight. I happen to believe that he didn't use them for earlier fights, but it is definitely possible. Someone surely would have noticed a block of plaster being used at some point. That's just too hard to hide for long.
here a pic
and what he was banned for wasn't for that.. it was for the fact that he was using old wraps and the rules are that you need to use new ones for each fight.
looking back at the fight.. I wouldn't be surprise with Mosley being on riods again. (for that fight)
dude was throwing like a mad man... with full force... and we never seen him in that form ever again after that fight.Comment

There was an experiment done too see if Dempsey ever used plaster off paris and it basically came too the conclusion that after landing the first punch the pop would just crumble and do more damage too the fighter using the pop then too the opposing fighter.Doug Fischer gives his opinion here
