Comments Thread For: Frankie Gomez-Manuel Leyva Early Results From Anaheim

By Jake Donovan - Frankie Gomez begins his redemption tour Saturday evening in Anaheim, California. It's not often that a 20-year old unbeaten prospect has to win back fans, but Gomez managed to fall off track after an 11-month ring absence largely due to poor discipline in and out of the ring.

A troubled 2012 saw the East LA prospect get arrested twice and briefly serve time. Gomez (12-0, 9KO) insists he has learned the error of his ways, even surfacing at Freddie Roach's fame Wild Card Gym to put in work.

The first glimpse at a promised makeover comes when he faces Manuel Leyva in a Telefutura-televised main event scheduled for eight rounds at the welterweight limit. [Click Here To Read More]

Gomez is just another dime a dozen mediocre brawlers. There should be a law against a fighter like Leyva who gets knocked out every two weeks and still winds up on TV!!!

Like watching Gomez fight, always explodes with body shots on the inside, and finishes to the body and head.

I was impressed with Gomez. He showed no ring rust and was very accurate with his punches. He is good defensively as he is offensively
