Middleweight contender Fernando Guerrero (24-1, 18 KOs) and new trainer Virgil Hunter spoke to BoxingScene.com/CSNBayArea.com ahead of their Fox Sports Net/FUEL TV headliner this Saturday against J.C. Candelo (32-11-4, 21 KOs), at the Humble Civic Center in Humble, Tex.

FERNANDO GUERRERO ON COMPARING HIS HOMETOWN OF SALISBURY, MD., TO LOS ANGELES AND THE BAY AREA:

I'm a fan of Fernando. I live 45 minutes from his hometown and have been to a few of his fights. I think he will be a top contender, but I don't know if he will ever be a champion. I need to see him fight the Barkers and the Macklins of the division. That will give me a better idea of where he's at. Right now, he's been fighting unranked guys so its hard to get a guage on where he's at in his career. That fight with Brewer was a disaster, but he was weight drained. He never should have went down to 154. But know matter what, he has my support.
