Comments Thread For: Marroquin To Return on The Donaire-Arce Undercard

BoxingScene.com has been advised that super bantamweight contender Robert Marroquin (22-2) will return to the ring on December 15th on the undercard of the Nonito Donaire-Jorge Arce WBO super bantamweight showdown. The main event will be televised by HBO and will take place at the Toyota Center in Houston, TX.

Marroquin last fought in September, losing an unanimous decision to WBA super bantamweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux on the Julio Caesar Chavez-Sergio
Martinez undercard. He was able to stun the Cuban on a few occasions but Rigondeaux's defensive prowess and big fight experience proved to be too much for Marroquin to overcome.

Marroquin is a scrappy little fighter. Rigo was out of his class but I'd be interested to see how he bounces back.

Cool, so who's it gonna be? TR doesn't have much in-house choices. I think Mickey Bey Jr. would be a respectable opponent. Maybe he could fight Eduardo Escobedo or Robinson Castellanos too. As long as he's not fighting a top 100-200 unknown, then I'm good.

Marroquin surprised a lot of people in his fight with Rigo. He's no slouch.

He caught Rigo twice. Once while he was stepping on Rigo's foot and he pulled back, and another when Rigo was showboating late because it was so easy. Before, in between, and after those occurrences, he was thoroughly outclassed.

He does have some talent and a tremendous amateur pedigree. Top Rank sees something in him obviously, but why would they feed him to Rigo so early?
