Comments Thread For: Humberto Soto Claims Personal Issues in Matthysse Loss

Former three division world champion Humberto Soto (58-8-2, 34KOs), 32-years-old, plans to redeem himself against Jose Lopez (17-2-1, 10KOs) on November 10th at the Estadio Morelos in Ecatepec, México.

In his last fight, on June 23rd in Los Angeles, Soto was stopped for the first time in his career by big puncher Lucas Matthysse of Argentina. Soto says there were problems with his training camp, claiming to have had personal issues before the fight with Matthysse.

Why is it no one ever just loses any more?

Always some sketchy excuse instead of, say"he was better than me"

I'm sure without those issues he could withstand the punches he took. Not like he looked bad.... He just withered

The only personal problem this guy has is that he can't make 126 and 130 lbs. anymore!!! He had a mediocre run at 135 and will continue to fail at 140! Fact is, he has no power above 130 in order to keep guys off of him.

Not that he is revealing what it is that "personal problem". I guess Lucas punches had nothing to do with it

Another dude with a lame excuse. Soto was that mythical mexican world beater that nobody wanted to fight cause he was so good. His best win is Rocky Juarez

The problem is - too many fighters will give you a list of 10 reasons why they lost and sometimes the list is convincing like Morales's gallbladder surgery, or another guy saying he underestimated the guy and they almost got you believing it and then they step in the ring for the rematch and lose even worse. Rarely does it go another way. Terry Norris proved the opposite against Simon Brown and Lewis did against Rahman...but those are rare.

Tell this to the poster "Boxingenius" because he thinks the Soto win for Mathysse is and would be equivalent to Matthysse fighting Garcia. He also said that Soto can beat any other 140LBer in the division.
