Good fight.... Mijares brought that left from the seats..... I thought for sure Marquez would win before the fight

If he fights Vic, even better. But I won't be mad if Rigo/Mijares gets made. I just don't want him fighting another prospect.

Nice win for him tonight though
His defense used to be incredible. Had some of the best defense in the game, bar none. I still don't understand why he ever changed his style after the Vic loss. He went from boxer to brawler for no reason and it lost him fights.

The big thing about this win though, good as it was, is that he looked like he hardly trained for it. Very soft around the middle and the weight doesn't suit him at all. With proper training he should always be at or around 112/115. He just looked untrained to me tonight.

A bit sad really because he's only 31 and clearly still has something to offer if he's properly trained. Not just anyone knocks out Marquez at this stage, despite being past it.

Anyway, they both showed glimpses of their previous greatness, but Mijares just has more left then Marquez. But Mijares, although showing periods of really good skill and form seemed quite lacklustre overall and didn't seem very sharp for long stretches too. I imagine against someone who didn't let him back in the fight early on when he got cut and seemed slow and lethargic, he would have been beaten pretty easily without ever coming out of first gear.

Maybe we'll see him regain something of his old form, because when he was at the top, he was a stunning little fighter. I'd love to see him back at the top with another title at some point soon. No doubt he'll get his shot. Whether he's up for it and trained properly is another matter.

So Arum won't put Rigondeaux in with Donaire, and he won't put Rigondeaux in with Mares/Moreno?

Why the hell did Rigo sign with him then?

I'm wondering the same thing. If he doesn't push for Donaire/Rigo, there's no reason to have signed him to another contract. This is playing out like Juanma/Gamboa. Somebody is going to wind up losing and then the match-up will no longer be demanded. Hopefully, 2013 will be the year that this story-line is resolved.

and so it happened, mijares takes out rafa. too bad i had no chance of seeing this. and by what im reading, mijares didn't impress with this win. could be on his last legs too. would like to see him in an arce rematch, or even a bout with donaire no matter how long past it should've been.

This was a good, solid scrap between slowed down guys who still know the notes.

Somehow, those who said Nishioka was a very good fighter going into Donaire (he was) in retrospect were calling him Rising Sun Robinson (they weren't; they just acknowledged he earned the right to be seen as the/a class leader). He beat Marquez solid. I thought he'd be a hard test for Donaire. He wasn't. So it goes.

Marquez went out last night and lost a good fight to another guy who has been very good for years and has more left than him. It's not like Mijares was some bum he should just run over in the first place. Marquez losing to Mijares doesn't mean Nishioka beating a Marquez with less age and wear on him that he picked up that night and over the last year wasn't a good win.

                    Some boxing fans are ******.

                    Good show last night.

Yes..that allways happend..but you agree that he doesn't look like a big threat for rigo...but better than kennedy I will say..whom you will like better agbeko or mijares to face rigo...anyways..rigo is set to fight in early december..I don't think mijares can go back that fast..
