Flyweight division, the next boxing hotbed?

There are a lot of decent fighters swarming around the Flyweight division. Looking up and down a division as well, we should have some potential mega fights in the making.

Will these guys get enough exposure in time so that the States can see these matches? Here are some of the possible big names that we could hopefully see in big matches in the next year or two (superfly to jr. fly)

    Fernando Montiel
    Jose Navarro
    Luis Perez
    Martin Castillo
    Eric Morel
    Rosendo Alvarez
    -
    Lorenzo Parra
    Pongsaklek Wonjongkam
    Vic Darchinyan
    Jorge Arce
    Hussein
    Naito
    -
    Brian Viloria
Ivan Calderon (assuming he moved up from Straw)

That is a ton of good possible matches that could be made. And I think there are a couple decent Japanese fighters that I don't know at all. Kawashima and Tokuyama, I've only read about them. Tokuyama was the one that got the controversial win over Navarro. Still, maybe him or the other guy would be decent.

Let's hope that we get another good division to watch here in the western world, namely the States. Maybe the europeans will have access.

Definitely. It's a good thing the lighter divisions are gettin some recognition now.

Wit superstars like you said, Viloria, Montiel, Arce, Calderon and many prospects (ehem, Rodel Mayol is comin), it'll only get betta.

Bring on Viloria vs Arce. This will be Pacquiao vs Morales of super flyweight! Could be even betta!

What the hell, man? You're leaving out Vazquez, Cazares and Solis at 108. They're all fun to watch and would match up great with almost anyone else on the list. And to answer your question, yes, boxing in the very light divisions is just getting better and better all the time.

Actually kawashima was the one that got the controversial win over navarro(i sent you that fight btw) and Tokuyama went on to beat kawashima. So now Tokuyama is set to fight navarro feb 27th.(got all that ) For navarro's sake i hope he dosent get another ****ty decision.

Im familiar with only a few fighters here, none of which is realy known to have power(e.g. calderon, navarro) but are great boxers, except maybe for arce,he seems to have good pop.So i dont know if those fights will garner much attention.Brian Viloria i havent seen fight, good power?

doo, Brian Viloria is said to hit like a super bantamweight! He destroyed that former WBC Flyweight champion Ortiz in 1 round.

Whoa buddy. Perez at 115, Arce, Darchinyan, and Pongsaklek at 112, and Viloria and Vasquez at 108 are all known punchers. Most of the rest are boxer-punchers. The only pure boxers on the list are the two you mentioned.

Some good names mentioned in this thread, but when I see them, all I see is a bunch of future KO victims courtesy the fists of the 19 year-old SUPER prospect of the division, Koki Kameda.
