    Ex-heavyweight world champion Lennox Lewis has spoken of his devastation at the death of long-term trainer and close friend Emanuel Steward. The 68-year-old former coach's death from cancer was announced on Thursday. Steward trained 43 world champions in a celebrated career, including British fighter Lewis from 1994 to 2004.

    "This has been a very tragic year for the boxing world, but today we've truly lost one of its crown ***els," Lewis wrote on his official website. "I'm completely devastated by the passing of my long-time friend, mentor and trainer Emanuel 'Manny' Steward.

              Wish the news would have turned out to be completely false in the end. I am really gonna miss that insight. Feel so bad for Wlad, Lee, etc. who now have to work with a missing man in the corner. My condolences to his family and all the boxers he touched and trained.

                I'm really saddened about his passing, a real Legend is gone and it was a shame we never got to say good bye.
