In 3 fights this year he has won the WBO,IBF AND RING TITLE,thats 3 titles in 3 consecutive fights. And he had dominated in all fights scoring ko's in 2 and a huge knockdown in 1...this guy is phenomenal and the king at 122
Donaire should be fighter of the year hands down

Didn't know Ward only fought once this year. While Donaire 3x already with the latest beating the #1 ranked in his current division.Comment

I would go with Garcia. He has had much more impressive wins, with two huge JO's early in his fights! Of late it seems like Donaire is having much more trouble winning than people are giving credit.Comment

I disagree.
While he did win belts vs. Vazquez Jr. and Mathebula, that's all he did, win alphabet belts. He went 12 rounds with two guys well below his league, two guys that have beaten very few or no credible opponents. While Vazquez Jr. has a sexy name because of his father's legacy, he really hasn't done anything as a pro besides beat a 19 year old for a vacant belt and lose by stoppage to Jorge Arce. Yes, he's an exciting fighter, but not an accomplished, or very good fighter. Mathebula was another fighter with an alphabet belt that has fought some different guys, but who is the most noticeable name on his resume? Who have Vazquez Jr. and Mathebula ever beaten? These two wins are meaningless to me, and he didn't even stop these guys.
So that leaves his most meaningful win this year as Nishioka, a 36 year old super bantam who hadn't fought in a year and didn't come to fight on fight night. But Nishioka was rated #1 at 122 and Donaire did stop him. Good job.
Danny Garcia, wins alphabet belts vs. Morales and Khan (I know how much you guys like unifying alphabet belts). But he upsets Khan and stops him in 5 and possibly wins KO of the year vs. Morales in the rematch. Way more exciting and meaningful than Donaire's resume this year.
That's leaves Juan Manuel vs. Pacquiao. Beat Pacquiao, hell KO him, and you have your glory.Comment
