Nice, but he needs to be smart. He has been in some wars already, if he's smart and doesn't take much punishment he can still fight some more. That first Margarito fight and the Pac fight took a lot from him.

Trout has a difficult style too look against though. Cotto will have to pressure Trout the entire night, make it rough, and get Trout against the ropes and go to work. Trout is a really good fighter no doubt, but he won't be able to slip punches like Floyd did on the ropes against Cotto.

cotto is mentally strong as ever having avenged the margarito loss and knowing that he was beaten by a cheat the first time, he's also convinced himself that the catchweight was detrimental in the pacquiao fight, and recently looking decent in a loss against the best fighter in the world must've boosted his confidence even more.

Financially, Cotto should close it out with...

          Canelo
          Mayweather II
          Pacquiao II

the man gave floyd the toughest fight he had in a while, i dont see why he should retire, he hasn't shown me he's on his way out yet. but like someone's already mentioned, he's been in wars and the margarito and pacquiao fight took a lot out of him, so he needs to be careful, if he takes one more beating, he should retire.

If I were Cotto here's how I'd go about it. He's 32 now. Fight 4-5 more times after Trout at the most, retire at 34.

Trout, Canelo, and either a Pacquiao/Mayweather rematch at some point. The other 2-3 fights could be against Martinez or Quillin at 160, or other contenders at 154 like Kirkland, Angulo, etc.

Boy people are really talking up that Floyd loss... 3 rounds at best

I remember him getting a gift against Clottey not that long ago

Not saying that I dont rate Cotto coz I do but let's see how he fares against a real and game 154lber before we get excited

Feather fisted Foreman and Old Man Mayorga didnt tell me that much

He's a good fighter who has vulnerablities.... thats why we like him but I aint getting all excited coz he had a few good moments against floyd

I think he is one a the very few serious and intelligent boxer who can still give us good shows.
By the way, is it any of the Freddy Roach boxers that doesn't get doped every time?
No he did not use anything illegal. Margarito plastered his chin too?? Maybe Cotto used plaster. Cotto took a beating, was hugging and running like a coward. In the rematch, Cotto was lucky Margo's eye was not ok yet. Still was hugging and running and Margo was hurting him but they stopped it. Fighting a bum like Trout is a joke.
