He just lost his first fight in a 8 rounder against....some dude
WBC ratings are out of date so I doubt he's #1 anymore. If Sergio wants HBO money, I think the opponent is going to have to be decent.

If its in Argentina its not going to be Floyd or Alvarez or Cotto.

I hope its Pirog or Golovkin. Keep cleaning middleweight out, its the best thing he could do.

Sergio could pack out Boca or River Plates football ground with a huge attendance. Just remains to be seen whether the revenue would be enough without the casinos in the US to entice a top middleweight over.

Ran into this interview. He specifies he wants to defend his title, so middleweight it is.

              -Is your retirement close?
No, I still have a lot of dreams to reach. I have won several world belts, several world championships. My dream today is to have an important title defense somewhere in Buenos Aires with a first-rate fighter and fill out a stadium with 60 thousand people or more if possible.

              What's the idea then?
It's to fight next year with a rival that's within the first five places in the rankings.

I'm sure it'll be exciting regardless of whom Sergio chooses to fight. War Maravilla!

last week Macklin and Martinez made a deal to promote fights between boxers from Spain and Britain i believe, so probably they make a rematch, because no top MW would come to Argentina to be outboxed by Sergio infront of 60000 local people.

The only semi-relevant opponent (excluding Mack) in the WBC rankings is Martin Murray, don't know if he'd be able to travel though. The only guys we'd know wouldn't hesitate to travel are Geale/Golovkin.
