This fight received way too much hype before the bout, and it spilled over after the bout. It was a good fight to watch, but honestly, it was nothing special. They were both mostly throwing slow uncoordinated punches, not many big punches landing with moderate speed or force. There have been tons of fights this year on the level of Rios vs Alvarado that were not on HBO or SHOW. The media hyped the crap out of it instilling into the minds of boxing fans that this was going to be one for the ages and it concluded with Kellerman saying it was the Mayweather vs Pacquiao of die hard boxing fans. Salido vs Lopez is the fight of the year, Rios vs Alvarado is not even close and if you have this fight as #2 or worse #1, then I would like to introduce you to the placebo effect. Solid fight, but way too much stock placed into it beforehand.

Did it not live up to the hype compared to the Donaire Nishioka I think it definitely stole the show! But overall I think Alvarado did look the most coordinated out of the two especially in the beginning rounds he was Boxing pretty well till he got caught up in the slugfest.
