Comments Thread For: Hatton, Khan Could Light Things Up in 2013 Clash

OLD TRAFFORD will be in the running to host Ricky Hatton-Amir Khan if the pair get it on next year.

Former world champion Hatton makes his comeback against Ukrainian Vyacheslav Senchenko on November 24.

And if it turns out to be successful, the plan is to have another fight before a crack at Khan.

sounds promising, i guess they would meet at 147. but what happens if khan loses his next fight (probably by ko, he's now exposed), what's next? malignaggi might appear as someone who can fill the void but does not bring in decent revenue by himself. most logical move would be to **** with someone who has a belt and some cred, bradley seems winnable.

Why would Hatton a city supporter fight at Old Trafford?

was thinking the same thing. Could see it happening at Wembley or the Etihad/City of Manchester Stadium though. Or maybe even the Reebok (although its a bit small)

well, he said exactly the same on twitter a few days before his comeback was officially announced so I wouldn't take that as gospel.

Why Trafford ? Maybe Khan doesn't want to fight Ricky in his favourite place in the world. Maybe Trafford is the obvious neutral ground between a City fan and a Bolton fan. Or more likely it's just quite a bit bigger meaning more money.

Maybe Old Trafford because it has some boxing history and it's much bigger than CoMS.

nah, most people won't give a ****. Ricky is hugely popular in Manchester, amongst blues and reds. People forget that a lot of Hatton's fans are also United fans. Mathew Hatton is a United fan. Boxing is all about the fighter, it transcends things like footballing rivalries.
