P1ss poor opponent for Kel to face which is a shame because he looked in great shape....waste of a training camp if you ask me.

    Time to step up.
    you said it!!!
kel is a full step away from the elite. and don't ruin your chances by fighting khan at this stage of the game even tho it'd be a money maker.

I don't buy that **** if Machroom cared about a title shot they would have taken the Bradley fight. If Brook came through that he would have potentially been one of the biggest names in the sport.

You might say they haven't cherry picked the opponet but they sure have cherry picked the easiest route to it.

I think they care about their fighter more and selling his arse to Arum/Top Rank would've been a ****** option when they were one fight away from a guaranteed mandatory shot with no options.

Easiest route? I don't see it that way. They've worked their way up the rankings to a mandatory position for the IBF title. Its a standard route.

It's not the first time Brook's been mandatory to a title shot, there was even talk of him getting a title shot if he got through Jones. It's clear that after that fight Matchroom felt he's not ready for one just yet.

You can make a case about the options but you know damn well most fighters would have jumped at the chance. Either way everyone now expects Brook to step up just hope that is the case this time around.

Nah I think Saldvia was always on the cards. I believe he was ranked one spot ahead of Brook in the IBF so it had to be done.

Depends on the situation of the fighter. Matchroom had a plan with Brook and so far, they've followed it out.

They could've risked everything, taken short money and gone to face Bradley in America where he'd have to sign options and have the distinct possibility of not getting a fair shake on the cards.

Or become mandatory, win a title and then go back to the table with Bradley from a stronger bargaining position.

I doubt Saldvia would have been on the cards if Brook came through Jones convincingly. Another thing I wouldn't start planning anything for Brook when it comes to negotiations down the line when he clearly hasn't fought anyone worth mentioning.

I also don't understand your logic sure Brook would have taken the short money against Bradley and rightly so but if he came through that his profile would have gone through the roof and he would have earned huge money so to me the rewards outweigh the risks.

I like Kel and as a Brit I'll always support him but when he's knocking people out with a jab it just means he's not fighting guys on his level. The guy needs to step up so we can see how good he is before anyone buys into the hype.

Im pretty sure Saldivia was always on the cards. I've heard his name for a while as someone who was ahead of Brook in the IBF rankings. Brook had to beat him to become the mandatory.

When I say short money, I mean short in comparison to what he'd get if he won the IBF title and then negotiated a unification with Bradley. Giving up his position in the IBF to fight Bradley with options and a chance of not getting a fair shake would've been a huge risk.

I think his career stalled under Warren but his progress under Matchroom has been fine. The only way I dont see him fighting for the title next is if Alexander gets some kind of bigger fight.

Brook's been ranked above Saldivia for a while now so I doubt having eliminator after eliminator is really neccessary. Also a unification with Bradley might never materialize down the line and I'm sure they considered that when they passed up the fight.

True he's been much more active under matchroom but the quality of his opposition has been p1ss poor for the majority. I don't want to go around in circles but until he steps up nobody really knows how good he is.

Yeah I agree, no one will know till he steps up. His opposition has been what it had to be. He needed to build his name and profile because he certainly didn't do that under Warren. He's now a draw in Sheffield and the mandatory for a title. I think he's in a good position. We'll just have to see how he does....
