Comments Thread For: Price To Fury: Keep Talking, You Are Building The Fight

David Price has branded Tyson Fury a "playground bully" following his heavyweight rival's abusive rant at the weekend.

British and Commonwealth champion Price's first-round knockout of Audley Harrison on Saturday was met by a barrage of insults from undefeated Fury on television.

Former champion Fury, who gave up both titles last February while Price was mandatory challenger, continued his outburst on Twitter and now faces disciplinary action.

"He's idiotic and giving the sport a bad name the way he's running round like a playground bully," Price said. "We are grown men and no-one bullies anyone as far as I'm concerned.

Your fists aren't doing much talking against Audley Harrison who is known as the joke of boxing and Sam Sexton. Im not saying Price isn't good but he the division is weak, especially at the level Price is fighting at right now. It's common knowledge he has a weak chin. I don't think he would beat Fury as easy as some people think. Fury has heart as he has shown.

I don't think Price is bad at all but he seems to think he is the next Joe Louis because he knocked out Audley Harrison.

Its common knowledge he has a weak chin? Really? Is it really common knowledge? No, it simply isn't known yet, we haven't seen his chin checked....and please don't go on about the amateurs, that proves nothing, and certainly doesn't make it a fact (and common knowledge) that ANYONE has a weak chin.

Price has had a handful of fights, what level would you like him to fight at? Aren't prospects allowed to learn and work their way into the game anymore? Are they suppose to be fighting in world title eliminators before they have 15 fights? You'd have a point if he's had 25-30 fights but at 14 fights (30rds in total for his entire pro career) you are talking nonsense.

        Makes sense.

The fight would be fairly big domestically if it happened soon but nowhere near as big as it could be.

Same with DeGale and Groves. It was a fairly big fight domestically but it could be so much more.

Keep em apart for a little longer. They're not even in their prime. Price definitely needs to be fighting more regularly though. These early stoppage wins, while great, aren't doing much for him.

Skelton is an odd one and I expect Price to blow him out within 3/4 and hopefully move up in class.

These guys are coming around at the right sort of time. It's such a weak division its unreal.

I dont know how you got that he thinks he is Joe Louis because he knocked out Audley. I cant see anything at all wrong in what he is saying. Its also not exactly common knowledge that he has a weak chin, he has been down and stopped a few times in the amateur's. Big deal! That's happened to many greater fighters than Price, and doesnt really say anything about how he takes a punch now.

Price is still a relative novice, sure, his confidence is growing with every win, but he would be the first person to acknowledge that he needs more fights to get into a position to challenge for the really big honours. I'm sure the fight will happen, but it really doesnt need to happen right now.

Yes it's a weak division in terms of raw skill, but it's potentially exciting one (Klitschkos aside). The problem is this attitude of letting fights marinate until they fall by the wayside, and promoters refusing to take risks in the pursuit of a Klitschko fight.

Fury and Price could both get knocked out in the next year, then a fight between them has lost some of its appeal. These undefeated prospects and contenders should be fighting each other and making an exciting division. I've no interest in Price vs Skelton or Fury vs Grano. They aren't competitive fights at all, and this is a spectator sport. One that I pay a lot for the privilege to watch.

They're contracted to rival stations, though. It won't happen anytime soon.

Whether Price has a weak chin or not is irrelevant at this moment. They both need to show and prove and neither seem to have the mettle of say Groves v Degale to get it on. Tyson Fury though belittles everyone and is known to have dumped belts rather than fight Price a clear shook one? No one wants their railroad plans derailed right? And it is all about gesticulating for max reward, but make no mistake, but if you don't make the fights you face the criticism, jeers and abuse and real fans know what it is. The other possibility you face though is that you may then face a gold/silver opportunity to boost your prestige, especially with hardcore fans, and especially if you get then get beaten by inferior opposition. Think Lopez v Ortiz, Morales v Raheem, Morrison v Bent etc, etc.
