Comments Thread For: Adamek vs. Cunningham II is Set for December 22nd

Steve Cunningham figured he’d have to wait a little longer for his rematch with Tomasz Adamek after Adamek came back to stop Travis Walker on Sept. 8 in Newark, N.J.

Turns out the wait is over for the former cruiserweight champion from Philadelphia.

Cunningham (25-4, 12 KOs) and Adamek (47-1, 29 KOs) signed contracts Tuesday to fight again Dec. 22 in Bethlehem, Pa., in a 12-round heavyweight bout that’ll be televised live by NBC from the Sands Casino Resort’s Events Center. Negotiations began for Adamek-Cunningham II once Odlanier Solis failed to sign a contract for his fight against Adamek by a deadline last last week.

one of my favorite underrated fights of recent years, one of the best fights the Versus channel ever put on.

Steve's punch resistance hasn't been looking good lately but the type of speed he has will always bother Adamek so they hopefully they make for another good ebb and flow fight

The first fight was really good, one of the best fights that year. I think the extra weight will more likely benefit Adamek, who I could see winning by KO this time around, though maybe losing rounds in the process.

Seems like Solis has missed out on 2 fights now. Yet more wasted time. I don't see him ever doing anything in the division, even if the K brothers retired tomorrow he'd probably come in for the vacant title fight vs Rahman at about 300lbs and collapse under his own flab again.

i must admit i have not checked out their first fight yet so i'll go ahead and do that but i doubt that their second fight will be anything like the first seeing as their both up in age and in weight. I hope im wrong. It sure does suck to be solis now hopefully he can sort his affairs out

Adamek - Povetkin might be a good fight too.

I don't see Povetkin having chances against Klitschkos, but he's a fun fighter to watch, also Povetkin - Haye might be cool.

Solis is just a big disappointment, i think it's between ears, he doesn't have the heart nor the motivation.

Another good fan fight made. Their first go was very entertaining. I wish they'd do Povetkin/Huck II with the winners facing eachother and losers facing eachother.

Thank you. 2 fighters that will come in shape. Solis, man that guy screwed his career after the Olympics by gaining far too much weight.

Interesting to see how Cunningham does against a Top 10 HW, and to see how he does against Adamek in the rematch.

This is the first I hear about Solis not fighting Adamek. The last I knew, he was foregoing a tune-up fight and going straight for Tomasz. The idiot didn't sign by the deadline? What a complete and utter waste of space. That clown will be a bouncer somewhere one day, lamenting what his boxing career could've been like.
