There is a little chat at the moment that the Alvarado stoppage was a little premature... i dont agree with this under the present rules as i always think its better to be looking back wondering why it was stopped rather than looking back and wondering why it wasn't.
However I still dont see why we cant have standing 8 counts in pro boxing? Im not talking like the ams where if you get caught a couple times the ref steps in, just in the moments where at the moment the ref would call the fight off give a standing 8 count, see if they can recover, make sure they are definitely hurt and its not just looking bad from your angle (see calzaghe manfredo from the refs angle).
I dont see why a fighter should be punished worse for staying on their feet under fire than if they take a knee or go down? Or say with corrales castillo where he was being held up by the ropes... i dont believe he was more hurt than corrales just unlucky that he was being held up when he was hurt.
