I dont know iwho would be the better AM but I can tell you that Robert had a better AM record and had more notable wins as an Amateur than Mathebula.
And yet all those Donaire opponents you're slamming haven't managed to lose to someone lowly like Leal (or Dunne) lately.

Based on the last couple of Olympics, being the US representative is not really much better than repping SA. And Marroquin did not qualify. Mathebula did, and won a fight in the olympics.

So now winning a fight in the Olympics makes him worthy? I know someone who has won many fights in the Olympics. His name is Rigondeaux.

          hmmm, right...
You are so off, Dominicans(baseball players) are the one that change their age, Olympic Gold medal can't do it because they are on record from the start, I think Rigondeaux won his first Gold when he was 19-20 years old, there is another Cuban that one Gold in the last Olympics and he is 18 years old, all of them are on record, even the baseball player start playing organized base when they are 10 years old, they have to bring their birth certificate and will stay for therest of their career, try something else

I didn't start with amateur creds, someone else boosted Marroquin due to his amateur creds, cause he sure doesn't have much pro wise. I'm just pointing out that this awkward beanpole was just as accomplished there, but much more so as a pro

              Youve lost it.

Qualifying in the US > Qualifying n SA.

Apparently neither is a good bet to take you past the 1 rd of the olympics. though Mathebula managed somehow

                • Normally I read a thread all the way through before commenting but I had to stop half way.

Donaire is a guy that looks impressive especially against guys he can over match, fans tend to love these guys because they look real impressive and it is easy to understand why that guy is a quality fighter.

Rigondeaux it a totally different animal, he is a guy that will do his thing even against over matched guys and that tends to leave people thinking he is not that impressive a fighter. He is a real cool customer though and guys like him can make even hard fights look easy and guys like that are extraordinarily dangerous to guys who are used to blistering guys with their physical tools which is exactly who and what Donaire is.

It is an interesting fight though, and Donaire fought well so considering the what have you done for me lately nature of boxing fans it is to be expected that people would favor him. Maybe Donaire can make it work by overwhelming Rigondeaux but Rigondeaux is in no way an easy fight for Donaire probably the toughest fight he could take stylistically speaking and even if Donaire was to win he would not look great in the process I reckon.
