By Jake Donovan - Sammy Gutierrez led the way for five finalists in the ‘Quien Pinta Para La Corona’ series after scoring a third round stoppage over Edgar Martinez in their flyweight bout Saturday evening in Puebla, Mexico.
The 26-year old Gutierrez is already a ring veteran, picking up his second straight win in what was his 43rd pro fight. The bout was a thrilling affair, but with Gutierrez in control and getting the upper hand in the majority of the exchanges.
A flurry from the free-swinging flyweight prompted a referee stoppage at 1:53 of round three.
