He was often criticized for dull fights and for not backing his harsh words in the ring. But this time James DeGale, a flamboyant 2008 Beijing Olympics gold medalist, gave the fans what they really wanted in a bruising and gruelling encounter with tough Frenchman Hadillah Mohoumadi. DeGale also came out as a winner, retaining his EBU super middleweight title for the first time and scoring a beautifully fought unanimous decision over his tough foe.

      Backed up his talk?

Like get bullied and pushed around the ring against a feather fisted frenchy?

Thanks for the correction. Indeed, it was his second defense of the title - the first one being against Christian Sanavia. That was a typo but my fault for sure.

          ANOTHER HYPE JOB.

DeGale is one of the most overhyped fighters in the world. How anyone could call this a great performance is ******.

When this guy finally steps up he's going to get run over. I can't decide who is more hype Edwin Rodriguez or DeGale? Right now it's DeGale!!!

119 - 109 was a disgraceful scorecard to say that the French kid lost 11 rounds, must have been a Hennessy back hander even 117 - 111 was a little wide for me .

I had Degale winning by 2 or 3 at the max.

Degale is clearly struggling at European level.

What fight were you watching, pal?

It was NOT an epic performance by any means but nowhere near as bad as what you're making out. He spent too much time on the ropes but while he was there, he parried and rolled 2/3rd's of the shots. Not throwing enough back was the major flaw.

The kid needs rounds. The experience to know when and how to use his talent.

                  116 -112 (maybe 117-111), I think can be a good card.

I am late to this party, having just seen the fight yesterday. I must say, this is a very biased and misleading article. DeGale fought foolishly, lazily, and passively against a guy whose appropriate rank in the world is probably in the 40s. I had it 115-113 for Mohoumadi. There's one round I could easily give to DeGale, and maybe up to 2 more if you twist my arm. But DeGale was lucky that the two Italian judges (including the very appropriately named Criminale) had his back, because he didn't really deserve anything better than a draw. Clearly the more talented fighter, but didn't bring it whatsoever. I thought he beat Groves, so I'm no hater, but he doesn't deserve praise for this performance whatsoever.
